Japanese Maekake Traditional Apron Indigo Denim Cotton Longer Length YA85
This is an original shopkeeper's apron from Japan and sewn prior to 1975, the year it was sent to my friend in NY.
Photos 1-3 are from one side that says, " Root breeding department O Maru industry company Fertilizer Hekinan Tanao Telephone (Hekinan) II23". The back side (photos 4-6) says the same.
These are wonderful, sturdy, washable cotton aprons that identify the shop where once worn. The characters are resist dyed, not just printed on the background. In good condition but has fading from age . On the front side the characters have some blue dye transfer, on the back side there is faint discoloration of the larger characters. The closeups accentuate the actual look of the apron but the overall appearance is good.
Width is 17.5", length is 26" plus fringe. Ties extend 33" from the sides.
