Japanese Maekake Traditional Apron Indigo Denim Cotton Longer Length YA12
This is an original shopkeeper's apron from Japan and sewn prior to 1975, the year it was sent to my friend in NY.
It says, " Panama, Naigai Fruit Co., Ltd. Matsui" with 3 phone numbers for the factory, sales office and headquarters written below.
These are wonderful, sturdy, washable cotton aprons that identify the shop where once worn. The characters are resist dyed, not just printed on the background. Both sides have the images. In good condition but has very minimum dye transfer from the blue to the ivory. Photo 5 shows the dye on just one side of the apron. Photo 6 is the opposite side.
The main color is still very dark indigo. The ties have some color transfer.
Width is 18", length is 25.5" plus fringe. Ties extend 31" from the sides.
