Michiyuki Kimono Coat I4621- hand-stitched by kimono makers in Japan. Previously worn but in very good condition.
The fabric is black silk crepe with areas of urushi, which are lacquered threads woven into the background to create the design. These threads are silver, gold and rust, making it dressy.
The front area has slight spots right at the top of the snapped area but you really have to look hard to see them (photo 8). The back right panel has a tiny pinhole about 2" up from the hem.
Lined in an ivory silk jacquard which has some light yellow spots at center back.
Features the traditional hanging sleeve of a kimono. Measures 52" from sleeve tip to tip. Length is 40" from back of neck to hem, long enough to wear as a dress. Michiyuki jackets are double breasted and close with covered snaps. To accommodate the low neckline wear a scarf, camisole or turtleneck under it. Chest area is 50", hip area is 50".
These garments look best on tall, straight figures.
