Haori H197 - Wonderful shibori dyed silk kimono jacket hand-stitched by kimono makers in Japan Previously worn but exterior and interior are in good condition for its age.
Soft silk jacket with shibori dyeing. The color is a rich purple-red and the resist dyed areas are white and form abstract cloud shapes. The fabric is a jacquard weave with pretty little
patterns woven in.
Lined in a pretty pink silk with tiny floral patterns in many colors.
There is an area with patina, which appears as a pale gold stain (photo 8 with a close-up in photo 9). It blends in so well that I had a hard time finding it when writing this post.
The appearance is accentuated by the camera flash. The location is the front left sleeve bottom so it's unlikely anyone is going to notice it.
There are areas of uneven dyeing, which happens with any hand-dyed fabric.
Features the traditional hanging sleeve of a kimono. Measures 50.5" from sleeve tip to tip. Length is 30.5" from back of neck and 32.5" including collar. Chest area is 45". Haori jackets do not wrap, are worn open. Hip area across the back is 23.5". Fits near size 8-10-12.
