Vintage Silk Kimono - Vintage Japanese Kimono Robe H823E
Hand stitched by kimono makers in Japan. This is a women's robe and it is fully lined. It's very pretty and drapes well. I have doubts that it was ever
worn as it is in mint condition.
The fabric is off white silk with a vividly printed boat and bird pattern in a rainbow of colors. The background features a multi-colored wave pattern.
The collar band folds in half inward.
The upper lining is a particular gold hued "water" silk with intentional mottled coloring. The lower lining is cream silk charmeuse with dramatic rust coloring at the edges.Measures 52" from sleeve tip to tip and 61" from back neck to the hem.
Chest is 48", hip is 48", sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist is 13" and the drop from the shoulder to the bottom edge is 22".
Kimono are very long because Japanese wearers take a horizontal tuck at the waist and wrap the fabric with the obi to keep it in place. Hemming it is rather
easy since it is straight across the bottom edge.Properly wrapped this would fit about a size 14-16-18 but you could wear it overlapped more loosely or completely open over pants.
You can also display this backwards on the wall with a rod and open the bottom in a fan shape to get a full view.
