Vintage Silk Kimono - Vintage Japanese Kimono Robe H610
Hand stitched by kimono makers in Japan. This is a women's robe and it is fully lined. It's soft and drapes well.
The fabric is a very smooth pink silk which has been dyed with an old fashioned peony print that sweeps across the left front and sleeve and continues
on the back panels and sleeves. There is a lot of purple and blue on the various flowers.
The garment was well cared for and the only flaw is a few tiny spots on the lower right sleeve, close to the body (see last photo). I doubt that this will be visible when worn since the sleeve hangs so low.
Measures 54" from sleeve tip to tip and 64.5" from back neck to the hem.
Chest is 50", hip is 50", sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist is 13" and the drop from the shoulder to the bottom edge is 25.25".
Kimono are long because in Japan they take a horizontal tuck at the waist and wrap the fabric with the obi to keep it in place. Properly wrapped this would fit about a size 14-16-18 but you could wear it overlapped more loosely or open over pants.
You can also display this backwards on the wall with a rod and open the bottom in a fan shape to get a full view.
