Vintage Hand Dyed Silk Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage Apricot and Green H1883
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf!   This one is light weight with lovely color gradation in apricot and soft green with a very light jacquard weave.   The hand painted flower buds are tipped with gold metallic fabric paint.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
I believe this is an unused obiage.

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
