Vintage Hand Dyed Silk Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage Pink to Orange Gradation H1807
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is light weight with lovely color gradation in pinkish peach to orange and a diagonal abstract pattern in the weave. In addition there are tiny floral patterns and metallic gold fabric paint to embellish.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
I believe this is an unused obiage.

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
