Vintage Hand Dyed Silk Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage Shibori Dyed Burnt Sienna & Gold H2305
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is medium weight with lovely color combo of gold and burnt sienna woven from chirimen silk, which as a little spongy texture. The pretty grass and floral patterns are applied with gold metallic fabric paint.
At the very center and right on the edge is a tiny dark line about 3/8" long (see photo 4).
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
