Vintage Navy Blue Floral Silk Kimono - Vintage Japanese Kimono Robe H22
Hand stitched by kimono makers in Japan. This is a women's robe and it is fully lined. It's impossibly beautiful with its stencil dyed patterns on chirimen silk.
The fabric is very dark blue chirimen silk, which as a little wiggle in the weave and is prized. The stencils are hanging flora and pretty little birds.
At the shoulders are water patterns in blue and at the hem are mountains and more water.
The double collar rolls to the inside. The exterior is in excellent condition.
Lined in ivory silk (upper) and navy blue chirimen silk. The LINING has a blue spot in the front left collar (photo 11), a yellowing on the front left panel near the thigh (photo 12) and
under the arms on both inside panels (photo 13). None of this is visible from the exterior.
Measures 51" from sleeve tip to tip and 61" from back neck to the hem. This kimono would be beautiful hung on the wall if you are not a tall person lucky
enough to wear it. Kimono are long because in Japan they take a horizontal tuck at the waist and wrap with the obi to keep it in place.
Chest is 44", hip is 44", sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist is 13" and the drop from the shoulder to the bottom edge is a 19".
Properly wrapped this would fit about a size 10-12-14 but you could wear it overlapped more loosely or open over pants. You can also display this backwards on the wall with a rod and open the bottom in a fan shape to get a full view.
