Vintage Stenciled Silk Kimono - Vintage Japanese Kimono Robe H614 - sold as is
Hand stitched by kimono makers in Japan. This is a women's furisode robe and it is fully lined. It's smooth soft silk in a lovely aqua and white Yuzen dyed combo with added fabric decals and metallic paint.
There are cherry blossom and drum patterns on the hem, sleeves and shoulder areas.
Due to age and use it has some damage but is still wearable or for display. It is also great to cut up for projects since it has plenty of clean, decorated material.
The collar, which folds in half lengthwise, has some minor spots at the neck. The back has discoloration at the hip level of the center back seam for about 3" long. The stain extends into the lining a bit. I have photos of that area but there is no room to post them. The outer edges of the sleeves are stained at the shoulder line on both sides of the neck (see last 2 photos). The stains are much lighter than the photos.
The lining is part off-white silk jacquard and soft pink silk satin. The sleeves have yet another peach silk fabric on the lining.
Measures 50" from sleeve tip to tip and 62" from back neck to the hem.
Chest is 46", hip is 46", sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist is 12.75" and the drop from the shoulder to the bottom edge is a whopping 40".
Kimono are very long because in Japan they take a horizontal tuck at the waist and wrap the fabric with the obi to keep it in place. Also, on this kimono the sleeves are very, very long.
Properly wrapped this would fit about a size 10-12-14 but you could wear it overlapped more loosely or completely open.
You can also display this on the wall with a rod.
