Vintage Silk Shibori Scarf - Japanese Kimono Obiage, Two Tone Orange with Aqua H2144
This is a traditional scarf called obiage, which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is light weight with shibori dyed leaf patterns and aqua blossoms on light and dark orange silk jacquard with a speckled pattern.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 56" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
