Vintage Coral Silk Shibori Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage H1909
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf!   This one is light weight in a pretty coral color.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process; this one with star flower and wave shapes.
The flatter parts have a mixed floral and traditional Buddhist pattern jacquard weave and are very soft.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 53" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
