Vintage Hand Dyed Silk Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage Latte and Pink Fans H1955
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf!   This one is light weight with lovely color gradation in shades of pink to light brown with a pretty jacquard weave on the diagonal.   The hand painted pastel flowered fans are tipped with gold metallic fabric paint.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
I believe this is an unused obiage.   NOTE: The 4th photo shows the very end of the scarf and there is a tiny spot where the color is lighter.

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
