Vintage Hand Dyed Silk Shibori Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage H1885
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is light weight with lovely color gradation and very decorative areas made with gold metallic fabric paint and decals.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
The last photo shows a very small dot in the center where my iron leaked a drop of water. You may not even find it.

Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe. The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
