Vintage Hot Pink Silk Shibori Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage H1788
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is light weight in a very bright hot pink color.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process; this one with elaborate diamond shapes.
The flatter parts have a mixed floral and traditional Buddhist pattern jacquard weave and are very soft.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 56" x 9" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe. The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
