This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! Such a pretty shade of blue!
The puckered areas have an abstract wavy pattern and the flat areas show a jacquard weave with tiny fans.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 50" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe. The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
