Vintage Silk Shibori Scarf - Japanese Kimono Obiage, Neon Orange H2027
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This one is light weight with shibori dyed fan patterns on neon orange silk jacquard with a pattern taken from ancient Buddhism.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process.
I accidentally shot photos of the WRONG side of this scarf on some of the pictures so the puckers are inverted but even more interesting on the correct side.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures just 54" x 12" wide (at full width), a lot shorter than many scarves here

Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe. The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
