Vintage Silk Shibori Scarf: Japanese Kimono Obiage Neon Pink H2149
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf! This scarf is a lovely neon pink color with shibori dyed areas. This scarf has pretty round floral designs and the flatter areas have a hemp leaf jacquard weave.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process where each raised area has been tied off to resist the dye.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures just 50" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here
Measures 7" at the narrow width.

Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe. The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
