Vintage Silk Shibori Scarf - Japanese Kimono Obiage, Orange & Gold H2223
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf!   This one is light weight with colorful shibori dyed silk jacquard and a very interesting jacquard weave pattern.
The edges are deep gold, the middle is bright orange and the areas of pastel coloring really pop.
Very imaginative design elements
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process.
You won't go unnoticed wearing this.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 58" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
