Vintage Silk Shibori Scarf - Japanese Kimono Obiage, Pearly White with Citrus Colors H1818
This is a traditional scarf called obiage which is worn under a Japanese obi
I found that it makes a fantastic neck scarf!   Light weight with colorful shibori dyed silk jacquard and a soft touch.
The edges are pearly white, almost pale yellow, the dyed areas are orange, lime green and gold.
The middle photos show the complexity of the shibori dye process.
The edges of obiage are not sewn under, they are merely pinked.
Measures 57" x 12" wide (at full width), shorter than many scarves here

  • Kimono scarves are neck scarves sewn from bolts of Japanese kimono fabric, originally intended to be made into a kimono jacket or robe.  The bolts of cloth are narrow, between 12-14", so they are a natural choice for scarf making.
